About

Karl Mongrain

Karl Mongrain is the owner and lead pilot of Karl’s Adventure Helicopter Tours—and one of the most experienced mountain helicopter pilots in the North. With 12,000+ hours of technical flight time in remote Arctic terrain, Karl has spent decades mastering the art of high-consequence mountain flying across Ungava Bay and the Torngat Mountains, operating in extreme weather, tight landing zones, rugged ridgelines, and constantly changing conditions with calm precision.

Karl doesn’t just “run tours”—he builds missions. Every flight is a curated, purpose-built adventure designed for anglers, hunters, photographers, filmmakers, and explorers who want to go beyond the map and experience the North the way it’s meant to be seen: from the air, deep in the backcountry, far from roads and crowds. He’s also a skilled Atlantic salmon fly fisherman, seasoned moose hunting guide, and lifelong Arctic explorer with deep local knowledge of the land, the rivers, and the moments that make Nunavik and the Torngats unforgettable.

When Karl isn’t flying or guiding, he’s still chasing adventure—skiing big mountain lines, ripping snowmobiles, or riding dirt bikes—always with a grin, a story, and the kind of energy that turns a great trip into a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
